by David Harr and John McGregor (photos by David Harr and other sources) There is a mis-conception held by many collectors that Matthias Girmscheid was the only factory to produce steins with "twisted vine " handles. So far we have recorded four other factories that also used them; J.W. Remy, Reinhold Hanke, Marzi-Remy and A. J. Thewalt. I hope this will help identify the proper factory. This is another of those "urban legends" similar to the identitiy of the "TP" mark that refuse to go away. ~~~~~~~
