    ABOUT PACIFIC STEIN SAMMLER

Pacific Stein Sammler is the chapter of Stein Collectors International for Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska. However, our membership is open to anyone, anywhere, who has a passion for collecting beer steins and related material.

PSS was formed in 1985, has about 50 active members, and is one of 30 plus chapters throughout the U.S. and Europe. SCI, the parent organization, was founded in 1965 and has a membership that hovers around 2,000.

PSS meets quarterly, alternating meeting sites, between Washington and Oregon. In recent years we've met several times in Idaho. Each meeting results in a few steins changing owners and more than a few stories being swapped.

Pacific Stein Sammler hosted the 1997, Stein Collectors International convention, "The Great Stein Rush of '97," in Seattle, Washington. The convention opened on the 100th aniversary of the arrival, in Seattle, of the steam ship Portland, that brought word that gold had been discovered in Alaska, touching off the Alaskan gold rush.

PSS publishes a quarterly news letter, "die Kunde," filled with club news and stein related articles.

Pacific Stein Sammlers are genuinely nice people, they come from many walks of life, and their collecting interests are just as varied. The steins they collect run the gamut from antique to modern. While most are eclectic collectors, some are more focused on specialized areas like Regimental, Occupational, Character, or even Budweiser steins. Some may specialize in a single factory such as Mettlach, or J.W. Remy. Some may collect steins by a single designer such as Franz Ringer, or Killian "Karl" Beuler and others a single theme such as the Münchner Kindl (Munich Child), or, well you name it, and someone in the club probably collects it.
