His Contribution to HR ~~~~~~~ ![]() ![]() Above, we see the only known example of an "HR" marked, Reinhold Hanke stein. Mike Wald took these photos many years ago, so I have no idea where it is now, or who owns it. However, as I have been reminded, "Where there is one, there are probably more." One would think, if that were true, that more would have surfaced by now, but so far, none have. The stein is a Hanke, model number 743, as seen in the illustration below, from one of the Hanke factory catalogs. As you can see the "HR" logo is incised and very similar to the "type1a" logo. However as it was applied at a factory other than the Freising factory it is given the designation of "type 8" pseudo logo. There is no known explanation for the existence of this stein and until there is, we must use our imaginations. ![]() |
