The black and white photo above is from Mike Walds "HR Steins" and depicts three HR steins all with the "type 3" mark and all made by Merkelbach & Wick. The color photo is of three identical steins except the one on the left is marked Merkelbach & Wick, not HR. It is model number 2158 and is again shown below. Mike identified 13 designs that carried either the MWG logo and model number, or the HR logo and model number. Since Mike's book was published a few more have been discovered. The question remains however: Were these steins produced concurrently with those marked HR, or did Merkelbach & Wick only produce these, after they no longer produced them for Hauber & Reuther? My personal belief is that it would have been imprudent of Merkelbach & Wick to produce these while still providing the same pieces to Hauber & Reuther.

Model 2158 (MWG) - This stein is a product of the Merkelbach & Wick factory and is model number 2158. Its corresponding HR model number is 458.

Note that there are two 3031 model numbers below. Mike Wald registered the one that corresponds to HR-520. The one shown here, surfaced only recently, is definitely a number 3031 and it corresponds to the illustrated HR-410. I have not seen the piece recorded by Mr.Wald and have no explanation for the duplication.
